We surprised the kids with a trip to the Monte Lago at Lake Las Vegas right after their last day of shcool. We had everything packed. So we just drove about twenty minutes and told them we thought it would be fun to stay for several days (and showed them the luggage to prove it). They were SOOOOO excited! Me too!!! The room was beautiful--with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a large living room and kitchen. We were situated on the fifth floor with a perfect view of the two heated pool and a humongous spa from our lovely balcony. We had the best time eating (their Mexican restaurant is PHENOMENAL), shopping, going to their movie night, renting a boat, going to a close-by splash pad park, and napping. Really, it was the perfect trip for or family to get in some major R&R. It was AWESOME!

ditto to gina--and nikki, actually. that's an awesome idea. i love getaways that are close and easy, but an absolute change/break.
Looks like a lot of fun! I like that idea. get away, but not drive far. :)
